18 hours to Shark Bay and back?

I'm flying into Learmonth (Exmouth) so I will spend time in Turquoise Bay and Cape Range National Park.

It's an 18 hour drive round trip to Denham/Shark Bay/Peron NP. Is it worth it just for the scenery and beaches? I don't dive and am not too interested in snorkeling.

Thanks

It is a great area and while you do not say much on what you are interested in or how much time you've got, I'd do it.

Shark Bay was my favorite bit of our trip from Perth-Exmouth and back, but I wouldn't drive 18 hours round trip just to see it unless I had plenty of time to work with.

I'm not sure why you're going to Turquoise Bay if you don't snorkel, unless it's just to see it. Turquoise Bay is all about the snorkeling.

Alan, I could spend a day max in Shark Bay.

Melnq, what did you think were the highlights of Shark Bay?

Thanks

I pretty much liked it all bosboy, but Shell Beach (50 km sw of Denham), the half day we spent at Monkey Mia (we stayed in Denham, which I loved), two excellent meals at The Old Pearler in Denham, our afternoon at Ocean Park, and our quad bike tour of Francious Peron Nat'l Park were standouts.

My very detailed trip report can be found here:

If you've only got a day then give it a miss! Lots to explore around Cape Range NP. I found megalodon teeth up in the hills there. Hope they are still there.
