Cathedrale d'Images 2011

For anyone who will be in Provence next year, I thought you might like to know that the new Cathedrale d'Images show will be utilizing the de Vinci theme.

Fodorite Kerouac had a nice little review of this venue a couple of months ago with the 2010 featured theme of Australia.

For something a little different from the Roman ruins, Provencal villages and markets, this is definitely on my list. Enjoy!

Thank you for posting this. I enjoyed my visit to the Cathedrale d'Images a couple of years ago and plan on visiting again on my next trip.

Search for Fodorite kerouac as he posted photos of the Cathedral d'Images recently and gave a lot of info about it after visiting it. I'll see if i can top it if i can find it.

sap - again sorry for too quick a response and not even noticing you had referenced kerouac's excellent thread. Mea culpa and thanks for posting for 2011.

According to the Cathédrale d'Images website, they have been shut down. The French explanation implies this is temporary, but the English translation suggests this is permanent.
How sad.

Due to a court ruling, CATHEDRALE D'IMAGES is evicted.
We are sorry but there will be no future shows.

That's what's on the website. I will try to check for news reports and see what is behind all this.

Okay, I made my investigation.

The lease expired in 2009. It apparently was not renewed because the operators did not take renewal seriously and thought it was automatic.

A new operator has rented the site and will open within a year, with a "new concept" and "modern techniques." It's true that the former version was basically a slide show, so maybe the new thing will be better. Wait and see.

Wow. Thanks for checking this out, Kerouac, and giving us the update. I guess we'll be crossing it off our list. (Sorry for the delay in my response as I can't seem to visit the Fodor's site as often these days.)

Just checked again to see if there was any new information and the answer is no. Another company has rented the site and will open with something new (and different?) one of these days, but probably not in time for the summer season this year.
