Going to BKK in 2 wks...any new experiences there?
Hi everyone. It's been a year since I've been to Thailand. Can anyone suggest a new experience or exciting new finds in terms of eating, buying or just plain fun. Thanks if you can help,
Kurt

Hi Kurt,
Not knowing your likes and dislikes, here are some things -- some are daytrips from Bangkok:
- Wat Intharawihan (sp?) in Banglamphu - I've heard the name as just Wat In
- Phra Phuttamonthon near Nakhon Pathom with a 40.7m buddha
- hiking the seven/eight levels of waterfalls at Erawan National Park near Kanchanaburi
- visiting Muang Boran and seeing mini-replicas of Thai ancient sites.
- Thai Red Cross and Snake Farm
I want to do Erawan again when we go back.

For fun, cheap hotels, cheap restaurants, (lousy beach but good boardwalk) go to Pattaya! __________From Bangkok take the Skytrain to the Ekamai bus station. Go to the Pattaya ticket window and choose the VIP air conditioned bus. (Bus has a toilet on board - local does not!) Ride will cost around 120 baht and take around 2 to 2.5 hours. Avoid local bus it takes 4 or 5 hours and is really cold - I mentioned no toilet too! I know! _______In Pattaya even some of the cheap hotels have pools. Air conditioned rooms start around 400 baht including hot water and private toilet. TV, safety box and maid service included! ________Nearest good beach to swim at is Jomtien (20 baht ride.) Good walking for exercise, many street vendors and flea markets, lots of travel agents for tours or cheap flights, good new modern malls, movie theaters showing current releases for peanuts! ________You can enjoy the bars in the evening or ignore them! Number 1 tourist attraction in Thailand for families and independents! Have fun!

Hi BKK! Thank you for your suggestions. I will certainly try to fit some of these in. We've been to the 40m Buddha with the scary hellish figures park(same one?). Erawan sounds great. Thanks again!
Smart- I've almost done it all in Bkk. I prefer to do things that are pretty safe or aren't excessively sweat producing or where you can get dirty, that's all. Thanks!
RHK- Never have done the Prasart. Will keep this in mind. Isn't the secret place in Cambodia? Thanks.
Sir Halbert- Thanks a lot for that info! We intend on going to Pattaya and will heed some of your suggestions. It sounds great. We may have to take the bus down there as you suggested. Thanks a bunch!!

RHK- Thanks... In that case, 1)What's the payoff to Tong to get there, and 2) Is it wholeheartedly worth it? :]
SirHalberd- I am quite sure I won't hate Pattaya unless I get robbed or beaten up!
I am looking forward to seeing the Tiffany katoey show and all the naughty bar areas (Not that I indulge in this!!)
I hear there are alot of good Thai restaurants as well. Thank you again!
