Cafe Beaujolais or Albion River Inn

Need some help from all the foodies out there. For a special birthday, my wife has chosen one and I've chosen the other. If you had to choose between these two restaurants in Mendocino, which one? We'll go with the majority vote.

Thanks!

Albion, hands down. Beaujolais has been getting really mixed reviews over the last few years. Albion has great food and stunning views, Beaujolais has no views at all. BTW...the Victorian dining room at the Mendocino Hotel is also a wonderful dining experience. We love Mendocino and there are many great things to see and places to eat! If you can, drive up to Pacific Star Winery and take a picnic lunch. You won't find a more awesome spot!

I'll strongly second the Albion River Inn. Dependent upon the time of year when you go, an early dinner reservation with a table by the window can make for some splendid sunset viewing. Beaujolais has not been as good since Margaret Fox sold the place.

Another wonderful restaurant in the area is the Rendevous in Fort Bragg. This place is pretty small and has been discovered in recent years so reservations are a must.

I love Mendocino. We have visited at least once a year for the past 20+ years, no matter where else in the world we have traveled. We always have one dinner at the Cafe Beaujolais. We've been eating there since they served breakfast -- which they stopped many, many years ago.

We've also eaten at the Albion River Inn. Very good. You can check out representative menus of both places online.

I guess the advantage to Cafe B is that if you are staying in town, you can walk back to your accommodations. We are always a little uncomfortable driving the Mendocino roads after drinking.

Good point about drinking and driving. However, Albion River Inn takes the cake. What a magnificant view (get a corner window table) and the food is wonderful. We were there for our anniversary which they made extra special by decorating the table. Let them know of the occasion. Have fun and bon appetite!!!
