AI in Jamaica
Are there other AI's in Jamaica besides Couples, Beaches, Sandals?
Would you recommend some for a couple? First trip to Jamaica, on anniversary vacation. Love the beach, but also hiking, shopping. Not big on night life.
Thanks!

Yes. Jamaica Inn (#1 rated resort in JA in the latest Conde Nast traveler, I understand), Goldeneye, The Caves, Strawberry Hill (Island Outpost hotels), and resorts that offer AI plans include the Ritz Carlton MoBay (not great beach), Half Moon in MoBay, Wyndham Rose Hall (not great beach), Sunset at the Palms in Negril, Grand Lido in Negril and Grand Lido Braco (not sure if MoBay or Ochi), Sunset something else, near MoBay, Rius in Negril and Ocho Rios.
The first ones I mentioned are a step above the rest, in my opinion.
There are also numerous private villas with maid, cook, etc that are located on or near private beaches.

I think Riu is all inclusive and if you're a couple don't forget Hedonism.
We are hooked on Sandals resorts. We just got back from Sandals Dunns River which was our favorite of all the ones we've been to. It's nice because on top of the all inclusive you also have the no children thing which is nice.
They have some nice tours that you can arrange through the resort, we went on the tour to Nine Mile to see Bob Marley's house and mausoleum.

We're staying at the RIU Tropical Bay in Negril next month. We are a couple with no children. They are an AI property. They also offer exchange privleges with their sister hotel, RIU Negril.
Our first choice was Couples Negril and then Sandals Whitehouse, (we've stayed at two other Sandals before) but their prices were outragous. The RIU was almost half off what they were charging and all rooms at RIU has in-room bars, not just the over priced suites like at the other resorts.

For an anniversary/first trip, look at the upper end of the market (and luxury.com where auctions of same can often be found at good pricing):
Outside MoBay:
Ritz-Carlton
Round Hill
Half Moon
Outside Ocho Rios:
Jamaica Inn
Goldeneye
In Negril:
The Caves
All-inclusive doesn't have to mean RIU,
or Bahia Principe or Couples or Sandals or Grand Lido anymore...
