Greystoke Mahale

I am thinking of going to Greystoke Camp in Mahale Mountains National park for four nights in October 2007 and would appreciate it if anyone who has been to the lodge could give me some information on:
1. The chimpanzee tracking( How close does one get to the chimps and do the chimps often approach?)
2. Accomodation-Information on the toilets/ bathrooms and the bedrooms.
3. Any other information will also be appreciated.

1. You may not approach closer than 20 feet or so. They may approach you and you are supposed to back away but sometimes they get really close.

2. See here: http://www.go-safari.com/Mahale/mahale.htm and here http://www.go-safari.com/Mahale/Greystoke.htm

3. Can you be more specific?

We were at Greystoke this past September for 4 nights. It was incredible-not just seeing the chimps, but the process of looking for them, which can entail a rugged hike. The chimps really do not "come" to you. You observe them and try to respect their space. We also went snorkeling in Lake Tanganyika .The underwater sights were amazing. As for bathrooms and bedrooms:they are in thatch roofed chalets with two stories. We loved being on the second floor watching the sunset.Bathrooms are small structures separate from the bedroom and contain a sink, flush toilet, and shower. You tell the staff when you would like to bathe and they fire up the hot water heater. The managers, especially Magdalena, who is a primatologist, were wonderful. The stay was a highlight of our safari.
