Bike trails in Jamestown, New York
We recently bought Trek bikes and are thinking about taking them with us tomorrow on our trip to Jamestown, New York. Our son is playing baseball there. Does anyone know if there are paved bike paths in or near Jamestown? We are novices and close to 60 so we would rather not do many hills!
Thanks so much.

You are going to love having those bikes. I cannot help with the specific area, but suggest you check out the rails to trails websites. Fabulous hill free choices with the added advantage of no vehicles! Great post on the Canada board about doing the Lachine Canal ride.

Check out the Chautauqua Institution, about half way around the lake from where Jamestown is. It's been years since we've been in that area, but the venerable old Institution grounds would be pleasant to stroll around if there happen not to be bike paths. Lots of history there.

Hi rbphilly - you can google "New York State bicycle trails" and get a good list of results. This one looks like it might be useful:

I believe Jamestown NY isn't far from the PA border and there are not many hills around. I don't know how far Dunkirk/Fredonia NY is from Jamestown, can't be much. I remember a route 5 or something that runs near lake erie shore having alot of extra curb space on the side of the road and that you may not even need an established trail.
