There is no non-stop between CNX and KWL. However, Bangkok Airways fly non-stop BKK-KWL, so you can do it with just one stop, without having to connect again in Guangzhou, Hong Kong or Macau.

Guilin Hong Kong check Dragon Air, CHina Southern, China Eastern. Be aware tho that one way fares are a rip off - we just did Xi'an from HK, HK-Xi'an on China Southern and back on Dragon Air and was exp.

www.tiglion.com, a online agent based in Hong Kong, quotes one-way HKG-KWL for HK$1,280, which is about right. Yes, definitely more than flying out SZX, but is easier and avoid the border between Hong Kong and Shenzhen.

Shenzhen (airport code SZX) is the Chinese city across the border from Hong Kong. SZX-KWL flights are significantly cheaper than HKG-KWL, and you can get there by various ways. There are jetfoils/catamarans from Kowloon in Hong Kong, or from the HK Airport - but they aren't that frequent. Or there are lots of cross-border buses from various locations in Hong Kong (including the airport), but it means getting off the bus to cross the border and look for the bus again - it can be pretty hectic at times. It'll also add 2+ hours to the travel time.

Anyways, there are multiple ways to do your itinerary. You have to check out all the possibilities and find the best way for you. Besides Hong Kong, you may also fly Bangkok-Macau (airport code MFM ) for cheap, and then MFM-KWL, as an alternative to Hong Kong.

Roundtrip HKG-KWL is about $1,880 on www.tiglion.com. It's less than double the rountrip price.

Info on the ferry between the Shenzhen airport and Hong Kong. [Free shuttle from airport terminal to ferry; the SZX airport is near the coast.]

www.turbojetseaexpress.com

It's painless, but it's not frequent.

We took a bus and found it quite easy and quick. That was on a Sunday morning so it might not be the typical experience. The lines at customs were very short and it was easy to find the correct bus.

I am sorry. I gave you the wrong web address for the ferry service between Kowloon and the Shenzhen airport. It should be:

www.turbojet.com.hk/turbojet_sailing_rev.htm

Same company, but the one I gave before was their service from the Hong Kong airport only.

The Shenzhen Airport - Kowloon service terminates in Tsimshatsui on Canton Road. Very close to all major hotels in Tsimshatsui.

To Hong Kong International means you'll be at the Hong Kong airport, which is still about 30 miles from downtown.

The service you really want is the one to Kowloon.

hypatia - I really do not know the details. The Shenzhen - HK Airport ferry is for people transitting to flights, and they don't need to go through immigration. If you're going to Hong Kong proper, I am not sure if you can take the ferry to the Hong Kong airport. Maybe, maybe not, you need to investigate.

If you take the ferry or direct bus to Kowloon, just take a taxi or other public transport to your hotel.
