Bedsupperclub questions

Hi,

Does anyone know if denim jeans (with a nice top and some accessories) is appropriate for the Bedsupperclub (seen anyone there in jeans)?

Also, is it possible to walk from the JW Marriott to Bed without arriving panting and sweating? It looks pretty close on the map but I'm not sure if it's walkable.

Thanks!

you cold wear jeans...i'm sure some people had them on....nice slacks might be a nicer idea....it is a relaxed place....would you normally wear jeans to a hi-class nite club where you live??

you could walk from jw but i would take a cab to arrive fresh....it is probably a 10 minute walk and you have to cross sukhumvit which requires a climb over the steps....you will arrive dripping...it might cost you $1-2....i take cabs everywhere for just that reason... don't forget your passport

When I was thre last month, did see one guy wearing jeans. Frankly, he looked uncomfortable. Jeans are just way too hot to wear in Bangkok (though locals who are acclimated do wear them). I'd recommend light slacks.

Oops - I forgot to add, I'd recommend taking a taxi.

Thanks for the quick answers!

Actually, yes we do wear jeans when going clubbing here in S'pore! Its considered smart casual here when paired with nice top and good shoes. I just wanted to double check as I hadn't thought of packing a skirt for my trip to BKK.

Yeah I reckon we wouldn't wanna walk to the Bed...but I wanted to ask just in case it WAS really a few steps away and I'd feel silly taking a cab there.

Thanks again!

a skirt would NOT work on those beds...if you choose somethink that is very smooth you could move more easily on the bed---like silk ...something that would not hang up on the rough cotton fabric of the sheets....not really rough, but you know what i mean...they are not satin....

This sounds trickier and trickier. So how should women sit? With legs crossed or bent towards one side? I had thought a knee-length flared skirt may work...but am rethinking this now.

You lounge just like you would if eating on a bed... Pants are easier than a short skirt!

You can sprawl or you can sit up, propped up on the many pillows. Some will sit cross-legged as well. Whatever is comfortable for you.

I agree about wearing something that doesn't get "caught" on the texture of the sheets all the time. Bob, I've worn a skirt to the Bed a couple of times! It's not a problem.

Oh and YES Janna, do take a taxi.

Janna, if you are from SIngapore, that changes my answer. Go ahead and wear jeans. Smart casual is fine at Bed. Personally, I wouldn't want to wear a skirt there, though some people do.

Thanks all for the suggestions and personal experiences. I'll give this some more thought when I pack and see what's available in the wardrobe then. Will probably go with the good jeans, classy top and accessories ensemble. If it turned out inappropriate afterall, I'll definitely report back!

Hi,
I wore a regular gap jeans on a Saturday evening and I didn't feel uncomfortable at all. I did, however have a dressy shirt to go with my jeans. Most people dressed pretty casually tho, IMHO.

We took a cab. The area was in some quiet lane.

Have fun to the Bed Supper Club.

the taxi driver probably will not know the club location....just keep your eyes open....you can't miss it....it is all white, oval in shape....odd looking....looks like a peice of white cloth stretched over a frame....the main part of the building is raised up off the ground....it sort of glows in the nite light....there is a large set of steps that rise up the right hand side of the building....

It's on a soi off of Sukhumvit that also has a number of night clubs in the area. Our taxi driver was hopelessly lost. When I'm telling a taxi driver which way to turn in Bangkok, you know you're in trouble. There is a map on the website. Unfortunately, our taxi driver couldn't read the map...

We had dinner at Bed last month while in Bangkok and I made the mistake of wearing a long skirt. Most of the other guests were in nice jeans with a dressy top and shoes. You sit on the bed as if you were eating in bed, the food is served on a tray that sits on a raised platform. You and your companion sort of arrange yourself around this tray, so it is best not to have to worry about whether your skirt is tucked in! Have fun it is a great place for people watching, funky music and good food.

My husband and I were there 2-3 weeks ago and we both wore jeans with a trendy top/ shirt. I wore strappy heels. A skirt will be uncomfortable on the beds. I actually saw local people wear jeans and like almost sweatshirts!! We walked from Sukumvit to the place and were alraedy sweating.
