Paris 11th Arr. Desirable?
My daughter and grandson will be in Paris for his 18th birthday trip, looking at an apartment in the 11th. D prefers morning coffee, afternoon wine on a terrace as opposed to a hotel. Location wise, does this seem a good choice for walking to the Marais? this is not their first time to Paris but D’s not familiar with the 11th.

Rue de Charonne is very long and runs from near Pere Lachaise cemetery to just east of the Bastille column. If they were on the far end it would be about 3 km to the Archives in the Marais. They can just look on Google maps to find distance.

Thank you all for your helpful replies. Seems my daughter suspected the apartment at 129 rue de Charonne might have been a scam so she backed off of that. For her needs/wants I suggested the Citadines Apart/hotel Bastille/Marais because of the kitchen facilities and terrace availability. Not fancy by any means but based on her wish for morning coffee or afternoon wine on the terrace overlooking the city. Also, many of the rental apartments could be inside a courtyard and wouldn’t have a terrace at all or if a terrace, not with a view of the city.

also Booking.com has apartments as well as hotel listings.

Seamus: Not sure why D felt it was a scam. I’ll ask for more details. We use VRBO frequently when we travel and D is pretty savvy. So there must have been a reason.
macdogmom:: Thanks for the link. I’ve forwarded it to D.

That apt bldg at 129 rue de Charonne is on multitude rental websites )Residence Paris Charonne). It claims to be an "aparthotel" but it really looks like a former hotel (it was some years ago a modest hotel called Hotel Selva) converted to rental apts, it's next door to a modest hotel. I doubt if the listing on VRBO were a scam more than any of the many other websites it is on (Expedia, etc.). It was not an attractive street there and the so-called terrasse view was not that great anyway, especially if it were the one on the first floor (one up from ground). I don't think it would be that great even from a higher floor, that isn't an attractive street in that location so calling it a city view would be rather aspirational. It doesn't have an elevator, also. That apartment isn't that deluxe, either, so no difference in that regard vs. the Citadines. Both of them have uncomfortable, cheap sofas, for example.
The location of the Citadines is better and more convenient IMO (the other one was around Charonne metro stop), and if it has some balcony/terrace view over the main blvd (Richard Lenoir), it would be more attractive view anyway. I stayed in that one once and it was a good location but I don't care at all about views as I'm only in my accommodations at night, and I specifically wanted a room that did NOT overlook that main blvd for noise reasons. With the Citadines, you don't have the issues of nonrefundability like you do with many private rentals, and the desk staff there is very nice and helpful. It's also convenient to their great Sunday market on that blvd.
