The other side of the Netherlands
Most people visit Amsterdam, maybe Delft, Leiden or Haarlem.
Most do not travel out of the Randstad.
This is an article which appeared in the Guardian offering you a view of another part of the country, not far from where I live. I know we don't have stunning mountains but we do have wide skies, water, intimate National Parks and delightful villages.
Great for a couple of days of decompression.

Really? sorry about that I haven't seen that (yet) as a donor.
Anyway it was about a mother and teenage son spending a couple of days in Alde Feanen National Park in Friesland, not far from Leeuwarden. They stayed in a tiny house in Earnewald.
Rented bikes for a day and just walked and enjoyed the area.
It is a lovely area full of wildlife and dark skies.

When we lived in Belgium and had a car, one of our fav trips took us up through/around Groeningen and down through Germany’s Muensterland (aka, the Loire Valley of DE). We also liked traveling over to Middelburg and then to the beaches (off season).
