The other side of the Netherlands

Most people visit Amsterdam, maybe Delft, Leiden or Haarlem.
Most do not travel out of the Randstad.

This is an article which appeared in the Guardian offering you a view of another part of the country, not far from where I live. I know we don't have stunning mountains but we do have wide skies, water, intimate National Parks and delightful villages.

Great for a couple of days of decompression.

Really? sorry about that I haven't seen that (yet) as a donor.

Anyway it was about a mother and teenage son spending a couple of days in Alde Feanen National Park in Friesland, not far from Leeuwarden. They stayed in a tiny house in Earnewald.

Rented bikes for a day and just walked and enjoyed the area.

It is a lovely area full of wildlife and dark skies.

When we lived in Belgium and had a car, one of our fav trips took us up through/around Groeningen and down through Germany’s Muensterland (aka, the Loire Valley of DE). We also liked traveling over to Middelburg and then to the beaches (off season).

I'm on Linux, on a Librewolf browser and it's instantly readable for me. Interesting article too. Graag gedaan.

We also cycled N.P. Alde Feanen, as well as N.P. Drents-Friese Wold, N.P. Dwingelderveld, N.P. Weerribben-Wieden etc. We love that part of the Netherlands.

I love this perspective! Most people stick to the main cities, but the quieter parts of the Netherlands sound perfect for a short escape. I recently read a similar article while searching for netherlands schengen visa covering hidden gems. Schengen travel info - Best places to see tulips in the Netherlands.

A bit late but here is the full article via web achieve, https://archive.ph/xjOMn

You can use something like a private browser option that "pockets" all of the cookies and deletes them when the tab is closed
