Ferries Greek Islands
Hi all
We are planning to go to Greece in March/April 2026 but am having trouble finding any ferry details for that time. Can anyone tell me how far in advance timetables come out? We would like to visit Crete and perhaps go from Rhodes to Turkey but can't find any dates etc to help with planning. Thanks for any information.

If you look at openseas.gr you can see timetables for March/April this year, which should give some guidance as to ferry services for next year (they are often similar I believe). You can then monitor using openseas, ferryhopper, gtp or other sites next year. Sometimes, timetables are not released a long way in advance (and sometimes they change). There is no need to book much in advance, unless you're travelling at Easter or other peak times but I know it's good to know frequency of services so you can plan.
fwiw, Crete deserves a decent chunk of time as it's a big island, although of course most people only see a small area, as time permits.

As above.
The overnight ferries from Piraeus to Heraklion and to Chania run every night since decades.
The fery from Piraeus to Kissamos runs usely twice weekly and timetables are often published very late.
Idem for the Gythion - Kissamos line (same boat) and for the Piraeus - Santorini - Anafi - Sitia - Rhodos ferry (Bluestarferries).
Flights from ATH to Chania, Heraklion or Sitia or often more conveniant.
Overnight ferries from Piraeus to Rhodos will be more or less daily, although not all timetables will be published at the same time.
There will be about 3 weekly ferry connctions between
Rhodos - Marmaris
Rhodos - Fethiye
Rhodos - Kastellorizo (boat change) - Kas
Kos - Bodrum.
They may become daily towards the end of April.
Ferry companies:
Tilos Travel, Seadreams, Meis Express

If you plan to visit Crete AND Rhodes in March/April you should be looking at flights rather than ferries. It’s true, as neckervd wrote, you don’t have to wait for 2026 ferry timetables, because they run more or less daily from Piraeus to both Crete and Rhodes. They follow the same pattern from year to year, and you can get an idea of what to expect in 2026 on the Greek ferry website openseas.gr, winding the calendar back to see what ran in 2025. It won’t be 100% accurate, but near enough for those two large islands.
if you look closely at neckervd’s post you will see that you will probably have to go back to Piraeus to get from Crete to Rhodes or vice-versa. There is a ferry that runs once or twice a week on a year round basis between Crete and Rhodes, but it stops at every small island between the two and is very slow. You will probably have to wait until next February for its March timetables.
For off-season March/April you will also have to return to Athens by air to get between Crete and Rhodes, but it will be faster than even a direct ferry. Think about one hour each for flying time, and two hours layover at Athens Airport for connecting flights, and you could get between the two in as little as four hours. Check Aegean Airlines and Sky Express for their timetables, which could be available as soon as next month. Sometimes there are seat sales for connecting flights, so if you are lucky it might not be as expensive as you think.

FB Vintsentsos Kornaros and FB Prevelis were incredibly slow and often late (up to 4 hrs).
But things changed since the line is operated by Bluestarferries.
I went from Rhodos via Chalki - Diafani - Pigadia - Kassos - Sitia - Anafi - Santorini to Piraeus 2 weeks ago and FB Chios was not only in time for all departures, but arrived even too early in many ports.
There will be daily non stop flights from Heraklion to Rhodos in early April, however (Aegean or Sky).

Good news on both counts, neckervd. I wasn’t aware Blue Star took over the ferry route. I knew Olympic Air (Aegean) had flights between Crete and Rhodes in high season, but not as early as the beginning of April, when demand would be low. Will these be daily flights in April, or perhaps 2 or 3 times per week?

Check on ferry hopper, we have used it to plan our next year trip based on this year's infos. Also great choice of destinations, Crete is wonderful but might need a car and as for Rhodes it's very nice that you're planning on passing to Turkey. Last time we did it though we had to pay some extra fee for the boat, i don't remember well, but it was not much, just a heads up : )
