We have airline reservations to fly to France in August to visit our daughter, son-in-law, and 2 young grandchildren. We haven't seen them for almost 2 years. We are both fully vaccinated with Moderna. I hope we don't run into any problems. We can cancel/change, if necessary, but we have to pay a penalty.

I’m not that enamored with France, but may look into Ireland or the UK if the Brits open up too.

Same. I’m pretty close to booking Iceland. The decision to go to Scotland too is the question. I used to love visiting France and especially Paris. But I’m no longer drawn to cities at all when I travel. After a year of reduced interactions with humans I’m even less drawn to be around a lot of people. A very close friend is owed a visit to NYC and she asked me again for this Sunday and I just can’t muster the enthusiasm for it as much as I’d enjoy seeing her.

Booked air to Athens, Greece for Sept. So far have an apt in Athens booked. Not sure which islands we are going to yet, or if we will explore some of the mainland. I'm so looking forward to this trip. September cannot come fast enough!

Despite vigorous and sometimes nasty opposition on the Europe forum we continue to hold tickets for Italy in August. I hope your trip is a great as you want it to be.

I hadn't planned on a trip to Europe until next spring, when we wanted to go to Greece. Now I'm thinking maybe September. This would help clear next year's travel plans: Mexico in Jan/Feb (Palenque and beyond), and Portugal/Spain in September.

We are not. We had planned to go to Europe this year, but decided against it. Our plan for quite a while has been to celebrate my husband's 50th birthday with a Trappist beer tour of Belgium and the Netherlands, but we decided to hold off on that until next year. We don't want to go and risk things being shut down or restricted. The whole point is to wander around visiting breweries and monasteries and to drink beer with other people whom we may or may not know. That's not really a pandemic-friendly activity. So we'll wait until next year.

Instead, we've decided to take a trip to Hawaii with extended family. We may also take a fall trip somewhere, depending on schedules. My husband just bought a new car, so perhaps we'll do a road trip.

Well we booked Iceland for August with maybe a stop in the Faroe Islands and I am going to NYC Sunday. Oh blahdi oh blahdah.

Found a cheap business class fare to Spain so round trip to BCN, though I will probably take Vueling to Nice from there.

Then got an award ticket to Austria, plan to drive to the Dolomites and Verona.

Finally trip to Switzerland towards end of August, with plans to drive to Chaomix and Annecy.


Essentially the trips I had planned for 2020. Still have some credits with hotels.

Fingers crossed and hotels booked for Paris in November and Italy in December. Free cancellation of course. Fortunately, no flights involved, just TGVs and Frecciarossas.

I'm exceedingly envious of all of you!
The only thing stopping me at this point is my bank account, which has been significantly impacted consequent to the pandemic (small but once-lucrative rental real estate investment in SF has taken a huge hit.) If we do manage to go somewhere, it'll probably be in-country, as they say...poor, otherwise-privileged me.

Maybe next year. And I’ll have to get back the strength I lost in the lockdown.

We have nothing planned yet. My SO and I have only received our first doses and it might still be a couple of months until we can get our second. And Canadians are still strongly discouraged from anything but essential travel—but I do feel somewhat hopeful about late Fall/early Winter and have allowed myself to check out airfares. But realistically I don’t think we’ll be traveling until 2022.

Ironically, radio news blurb suggested that the once covid petrie dish that was a cruise ship is now safer than many others! Whadyathink?

As long as they stick to vaccine requirements, then the cruise should be pretty safe. Safer, though? I don't see that, unless you never leave the ship.

We have tickets for Paris and Barcelona in November.

We are currently in Hawaii.

Have booked two trips for later this year. London in November and then to Paris just before Christmas.
