3 weeks in Bordeaux from the 14th June.

Next a vineyard producing 100,000 bottles a year, I've ordered half their production from 2015.

I need to get off his bloody island.

Just domestic travel for me this year. I have new grandbabies to visit!

Then a month in France, with a side trip to Venice in 2022, if all goes according to plan.

We are holding onto our rescheduled flights to London Sept 1 returning via Dublin. Don't know if UK/Ireland quarantine rules will be workable for us by then, even though we are fully vaccinated. Fingers crossed all goes well.

As to variants, I just wish we could get boosters BEFORE we left.

Totally envious of anyone who get to return to Paris. Big sigh.

Happy planning--and dreaming of planning,
AZ

I hope for all the peoples of the world to at least get their first dose. We are in a position of privilege.

We've booked a month long trip to Switzerland for late Sept/Oct. Hoping to book a trip to Austria and Italy for the month of December. We shall see.

Also hoping to revisit Spain in 2022 to resume our COVID interrupted girls trip from March 2020.

Currently winding down on a two week road trip through CO/WY/ID/UT. If our domestic trip is any indication, it's going to be a very busy summer.

You are certainly right, pgtraveler. If I have to skip this Sept Uk/Ireland trip, so be it. The death count in India alone shames me in so many ways.
I certainly shall get to see my oldest daughter and her two little ones for the first time in 1.5 years in 16 days and four hours. That will suffice.

I hear you. I have twin grandbabies that were born in January that I have not been able to meet yet. They live on the other side of the country from me. If the borders between the provinces are open, I am planning to go in June.

🌹

Just a few tidbits, No problem arriving in Greece. In SFO, there were six policemen/women asking questions before you can enter the airplane, some are being asked more questions than others. United enforced having your mask on between bites or sip of your drink and if you are sleeping. Flight was about 90% full, Frankfurt was very busy. The weather in Athens is gorgeous. 🌹💐☺️

What did they require from you at Athens airport, a negative test or a CDC vaccination card?

Kos, Mykonos, Rhodos and Paros are in code orange again and locking down. It's not a stable situation in Greece, regrettably.

I live in Germany, where vaccine rollout is slow... luckily, I got vaccinated (Moderna) through the US Army, and I beat the German system for my age in my town by 3 weeks.

I'm heading to nearby lakes in July (Wolfgangsee, Chiemsee, & Bodensee), then Switzerland in Oct (Melnq8, I'll be in Weggis, Montreux, & Appenzell, if you want to share a wine...!). In Feb, I host my nephew and his girlfriend for a thrice-cancelled trip around Bavaria (her first time out of the US). Then in June 2022, I'll be in my beloved Paris for the resumption of our long-going affair.

BTW, in Germany, you don't need to wear masks outside. But they still don't anticipate getting 70% of the population vaccinated until Sep, so indoors masks will be a thing for a long while yet. The Oktoberfest was cancelled for the second year, and there is talk of also canceling the Christmas markets.

Have fun everyone! And stay safe.

You have to show your vaccination card or PCR test. United also asked to see our vaccination card or negative test for entry to Germany.

So did you fly through Germany before flying to Athens?

I have an upcoming flight to Barcelona with a couple of hours layover in Frankfurt and United is telling me I need a negative test for both Frankfurt and Barcelona, no mention of vaccination card.

Thanks for your post cafegoddess. It is very uplifting to see the world starting to get back to normal. We are a bit behind here in Canada (we are still administering first doses), but there is light at the end of the tunnel.

Originally had our flights booked for a month in Shnrelbia. But then came that CNN report about the renewed mandatory work draft for tourists over 50. Seems they are running short of workers to meet that promise of leveling the Grabertitz Mountains by the end of the year.
So we cancelled.

I am done. the long sigh, the longer groan
