Am I crazy to visit Marrakesh in early September?

Probably my only opportunity to visit Marrakesh as I have an invitation from a friend to stay free. However I am concern for the heat.
Don't mind 80 degree heat, (247C but when it gets into the 90's (33C or higher... hard to enjoy exploring the Medina or even to venture out to the Atlas Mountains.

Does anyone have the experience of being in Marrakesh during this time of year? And was it tolerable?

Thanks

I've been there in November and more often in the spring, March & April. September is certainly hotter. But if it's the only time you can go then I'd say do it, and if it bothers you just venture out early & in the evening, spend the hottest time of the day somewhere cool. Better, I think, to work around it rather than miss the opportunity. Marrakech, Morocco Travel Weather Averages (Weatherbase)

Our son and I were in Marrakesh this year in late May and endured 30º+ temperatures. We escaped the worst heat of the day with either indoor lunch dining or retreating to our air-conditioned riad for a cooling pause. I agree with the above poster that you should try to work around it rather than miss the opportunity.

I don't think September is that bad. It's usually very hot in July/August.

I was there in September. It was hot, but not debilitatingly so. You can always relax mid-day and do your activities mornings and evenings. Your friend will help you stay cool, I'm sure.

Better than going right now -- it's snowing for the first time in 50 years!
