Week trip in Ireland

Hello everyone,

I'm in my 20' and will be visiting Ireland from Québec in a few months and I need advices regarding my trip. I land in Dublin on the morning of April 28 and leave from Dublin Airport in the Morning of May 6 (I know it's super short, but I can't take longer vacation unfortunately) . I plan on renting a car for the whole trip. I've been to Dublin (and loved it!) in a previous trip, so this time around I really want to focus on the countryside. I've made up this itinerary and I'd like to have your opinion on its feasibility.

As I leave the airport I drive straight to Galway and then :

2 nights in Galway + 1 night in Leenane
Things I'd like to do : Croagh Patrick, Connemara national park, bike trip on Mayo Greenway.

Moher Cliff on the way from Galway to Killarney.

3 nights in Killarney
Things I'd like to do : Visit Skellig Michael, Kellarney National Park, road trip on the Ring of Kerry

2 nights in Lackandarragh
Thing I'd like to do : Wicklow Mountains National Park

Then, I have to take a flight in the morning, so I wanted to be not to far from Dublin's airport.

As you might have notice I'm mostly into scenery and hiking! Any other suggestions of things I should add and/or take out of my plan? Do you think it is overall a realistic plan or I'll just run from one place to another and not really enjoy it?

Thank you so much for your help!

Crough Patrick

That was a great hike. We stayed in Westport, took ferry to Claire. I wish we had more sunny weather as we wanted to bike on the trail.

Thank you for your feedback. I certainly won't miss it.

As for sunny weather, from what I understand I need to fix my expectations pretty low?

“Expect the best, prepare for the worst.” In our experience you are likely to have some beautiful sunny days and some rain. The best advice that you will read over and over here is to wear layers and take a raincoat. If there is rain, it could be a light mist or it could be heavy with wind. In the second scenario your umbrella would be useless; use the hood of your jacket.

Overall we have had pretty nice weather during our April trips. We hope that continues to be true as we are going again in April.

You can see what the road to the Gap of Dunloe looks like in Google Earth street view.

Take a look at renting a bike and riding through the Gap of Dunloe from Killarney. Amazing scenery. You can do a loop but that might take a bit too much time. I hope this map works:
