Paris shopping: christening gown and other nice linens

During my trip to Paris in June, I'd like to pick up a really nice infant's christening gown. Can anyone give me some ideas for shops?
Also, any other ideas on stores which sell fabrics, I would be interested in also as I plan on sewing some quilts with fabric brought during my trip: again high quality fabrics preferable.
Thank!!

Many years ago we bought my daughter's outfit, gown and bonnet, in an upscale dept. store. Forgotten the name and when I just looked, it didn't pop up. I would start there and then proceed to the smaller shops which would be more expensive.

Yes, I knew I could start at the larger dept stores for the gown, just hoping someone might have an insider's view.
Thanks for your reply, though!

Try Bonpoint, Tartine et Chocolat, and there are some upscale infants' clothing stores around rue du Dragon in the 6th.

La Chateleine on ave Victor Hugo is very elegant. Beautiful things for infants. There used to be one on Blvd St Germain, but I think it's closed.

There are many fabrics stores clustered around the base of Sacre Coeur on the east side. Some of the fabric stores sell packages of small precut squares specifically for quilts.

Hey,

Whats your budget? I bought a really lovely christening dress one for my last girl. Lily heritage[/URL] are pretty competitive and they have a huge range. I'm sure they deliver to Paris too. Or you could try m&s also - although they didn't have a massive range to choose from. Hope this helps!

Most of the fabric stores clustered around Marche St Pierre do not sell "coupons" (fabric swatches).

There are "merceries" which might sell you fabric swatches for 1 or 2 EU. There's one across the street from Marche St Pierre.

BHV has packages of pre-cut cotton, on the order of Liberty of London prints.

Le Petit Pan on rue Francois Miron has pre-cut swatches of brightly-colored cotton.
