Tour of Bergen, Oslo, Stockholm, Copenhagen, St. Petersburg questions
I'm seriously considering joining in a small group tour to Bergen (3 nights), Oslo (2 nights), Stockholm (3 nights), Copenhagen (2 nights), St. Petersburg (3 nights) this summer. I have done a little research, but have not considered these cities in the past and know very little. The tour above is locked in with the exception of St. Petersburg which is an extension. After St. Petersburg we need to get back to Copenhagen for our flight home. I hope to add a few more nights in Copenhagen after St. Petersburg. I cannot make alterations to the group tour other than changing the date we fly home from Copenhagen.
Is it feasible to travel from St. Petersburg to Tallinn before traveling to Copenhagen? Is it difficult to get from one to the other? What are our options for that travel?
Are there other cities that would be convenient to visit between Tallinn and Copenhagen? In looking at a map I see Riga, Gdansk and Berlin as possible stopovers. We like the typical tourist things like visiting historic city centers and museums. We like to walk a lot and usually walk 5-8 miles a day while touring.
I'd appreciate input. Thanks.
Diane

How much time do you have all together.
At first blush this tour gives short shrift to Sotckholm, Copenhagen and St Pet and doesn't go near the other places you want to see.
If you have more time I would just organize your own trip - since all of the places you are going are easily manageable on your own - and St Pet is easily doable either on your own (but get a visa) - or with a local tour that would provide a Visa. IMHO you need at least 4 days (5 nights) in St Pet, the same in Stockholm and at least 3 days (4 nights) in Copenhagen. (Have been to all but Tallinin several times and the trip you outline is just TOO superficial.)
If you have enough time I would do both Tallinin (but I don't know about transit from St Pet) and Berlin (which is fascinating as a lesson in cold war politics).

I wish to travel with these people and not travel on my own, so am locked into the tour dates. My travel companion also wants to travel with this group. There should be about 20 of us and we all know each other. I am not the organizer.
I know cruises allow for only a day at each port, so I'm happy this tour offers additional time at each location.
As far as how much time we have after the tour between St. Petersburg and back to Copenhagen for the flight home, I think nine or ten additional nights.

If this not a standard travel agency tour, try to convince your group to drop one day in Bergen and add it to Oslo. Just the skansen, the Viking museum and the Kon-Tiki museum and the museum next to it would take up a day (maybe with city hall across the bay thrown in). The most important site in Bergen is the old town along the waterfront plus a funicular ride up the mountain that overlooks the city.

Good thought. This is not a standard travel agency, so I will mention dropping one day off Bergen and adding a day to Oslo. Actually, I would prefer to keep three days in Bergen and changing Oslo from two to three nights. Thank you.

Michael: re three days in Bergen. I think it's because we'll be flying in from California and will have one day to adjust and then two days for Bergen. It works for me.

IMO, St. Petersburg deserves at least 6 days.
I also think you are shortchanging Stockholm and Copenhagen, but you have obviously made the choice to join this tour.
I haven't visited Riga or Gdansk. I thought Berlin deserved at least 5 days.
Good luck!
