Nice cafe near or in Milano Centrale Station

We are booked to arrive in Milan (from New Zealand) quite late on 27 August and have just discovered that friends from Australia whom we haven't seen for 4 years, will be arriving in Milan that same night. We've agreed we'll all be too jetlagged to do much that night, and it seems best time to catch up might be around midday next day, somewhere quite close to Milan Central Rail Station, because our friends are leaving on a train to Venice at 2pm that day and may have luggage with them.

Can anyone suggest a nice café handy to Milan Central Station where we might meet up for a chat? We're not looking for a full-on restaurant, just somewhere for a light snack and coffee.

There are lots of options inside the station.

Where is their hotel? If the hotel has a café, that would be another option.

If your friends are staying in a hotel near the train station, it might be easiest to meet there and just go to the nearest cafe. There is always one nearby. The hotel may have a bar.

But if not, you could meet at the Hotel Augustus near the train station and go to the cafe next door (Nico). The Hotel Augustus is at via Napo Torriani, 29. The cafe Nico is nothing special. You can get sandwiches and pastries and coffee.

If it is raining like cats and dogs, you might want a Plan B, which would be to meet inside the train station. The easiest thing to do might be to meet at the Skybar Lounge, which sits right over the train tracks numbered 18-22.
