Sedona Road Trip

My friend and I are planning a 4 day road trip to Sedona from Southern California. Probably leaving from Tustin. What is the best route to take. Would like a scenic route but we are also anxious to get there too! Would love suggestions on budget accomodations and places to visit there and along the way.

We drove from Santa Ana to Vegas, then Sedona last April.
We had a great trip, driving over the Hoover Dam was a highlight.

I think we may take the 10, as I just visited Las Vegas a week ago. Did you visit Jerome? Or any other surrounding areas?

Well you can't get any faster than the 40 to Sedona.
When we came home we drove south from Sedona to Phoenix on 17. It was a spectacular trip, vast wild vistas and groves of cacti.

It is very easy to take a day trip to Jerome from Sedona. It's not far, less than an hour, perhaps much less. It is a very interesting place with a lot of history. Check out the museum there.

Scenic route - I-10 to US 60 to Wickenburg. Backtrack on 93 to 89.

89 to Precott. 89a over Mingus Mtn to Jerome then to Sedona.

Very scenic after Wickenburg. However it is on 2 lane, sometimes mountainous roads. Fun to do once. On subsequent trips I would do mostly freeways.
