road trip from Quebec City to Cape Breton

I have ten days total travel time and I know almost 4 of them will be consumed by rubber on asphalt exclusively. I need a great plan! Some camping, some B&Bing - or cabins that are actually located on the shore, sea-kayaking, lobster-eating and perhaps the opportunity to charter a fishing boat. Of course we want to do the Cabot Trail drive and I've read wonderful things about Baddeck, but I'm lost under the mountain of info and the crazy number of amazing options available in Nova Scotia. Could someone please narrow it down for me? We don't want to be on the tourist trail the entire time..

This is a tough question to answer...but I have a resource that can help. If you search this forum you wll find many references to the helpfulness of the Nova Scotia Tourism website and their terrific 'Do'er and Dreamers' Guide.
novascotia.com

You can do all those things that you've said, but it might be a bit of a job to cram it all in if you mean this year?

In any case, come back when you have got your guide and ask specific questions and I am sure you will get help!

You might get a quick overview towards the bottom of the page at www.drivecrosscountry.net/RouteJ1 and also go to route M
which is linked at the bottom of the page.

The eastern shore located next to Liscomb Lodge is a two-bedroom cabin you can rent. Can't get any closer to the water with a deck that overlooks the harbour. Call 754-7665 and ask for David. Great hiking up to the salmon ladder, etc.
