SOUTH OF THE BORDER!!!

I drove from New York down to Florida over twenty years ago. For the longest time all we saw was South of the Border signs. Haven't been down that way since - but it still bothers me they we never stopped. It may be cheesy and all - but the curiosity still gets me twenty years later. I wished we stopped!!! LOL

When a kid, our family drove from NY to FL at least once a year to visit the Grands. Folks would NEVER stop at SOB. I finally did a few years ago. I'd do it again too. The place sells all kinds of CRAP, the food wasn't that great, but not bad, but most of all, it was a nice diversion from the boredom of driving I-95.

I did enjoy Savannah, St Augustine, and Richmond during my recent drive. But best was Kennedy Space Center.

hi all

It took me 9 hours to get from Daytona to SOB - rain, accidents, construction. I was sooooo tired I stopped and stayed at a Days Inn and slept 12 hours.

SOB itself, eh, skip it. unless you have kids maybe, even then...

on the way down I followed my parents. They have friends in Raleigh so we stopped there overnight, then Savannah overnight. On my drive home I would have driven straight through if not for the trials & tribs...

Pedro - too funny, that is the name of the SOB 'host'...

anyway, I stopped at SOB and lived to tell the tale..
<BR

Thanks Beth...I was hoping you would post a report...hope the rest of your trip went well...so I guess you didn't pick up that 2 ton faux porcelain elephant statue with the imitation ruby headdress at South of the Border after all.

Perhaps you didn't comprehend her reply. She stopped in Raleigh on the way to Daytona. It took nine hours to get to SOB on the way back. Nice try at a trivial slam, loser.
