Sorry, I misunderstood your post. However they'd be missing the prettiest part by skipping Big Sur. The coastlines north and south aren't nearly as dramatic.

Oh, I agree, but their lack of time means compromises somewhere, and right now, Big sur involves backtracking. And the road itself is not one I would drive unless it was good visibility.
