Anyone ever booked a campervan through NZ Road Trip.com?
Hi-
We are planning our first trip to New Zealand and leave in a month! We're going to rent a campervan and found a really good rate on NZ RoadTrip.com. However, we're a little skeptical if this is a reputable company. Has anyone ever used them and if so were you happy? Any other suggestions?
Thanks so much in advance for any help you can provide.
Thanks,
Melissa

Bigger is not always better (especially with campervans) NZ roads can be a little difficult so go as small as you think will be still be comfortable (you will be thankful on some of those narrow, windy roads). Also check out www.standbycars.com.au for some really neat last minute NZ deals on campervans.

Hi there
We are renting a van through Maui/Britz/Backpacker. Its a little older....a 2001 model which they describe as having "lost its shine!". we think its great. They have painted out the Maui sign and call it a Backpacker brand instead. Its a heck of a lot cheaper than a Maui or Britz van. We have a 4 birth with shower/toilet which is quite big but have had no problems driving and parking it.

We were warned off less reputable companies.
I have just had a quick look at the company you asked about and it looks like our van worked out $300aud cheaper booking direct with Backpacker so it might be worth a look.

When we went, we were going to rent a motor home, but instead rented a mini van and got rooms, which were really cheap!
In case you don't know, you have to change out vehicles when you cross from the north to the south island, you can't take it across.

We are probably going to book the same vehicle (Backpacker Coaster) but both New Zealand Motor Homes and Maui/Britz/Backpacker offer it for the same price. Does it make a difference booking through an agent or direct with Backpacker? Only a week to go! Thanks.

We booked an Eclipse 4.2 through Pacific Horizon. This is a 6 berth campervan and we booked it for 3 weeks.
We booked through their website and they immediately gave it to us for the price of an Eclipse 2.1. A saving of over $400.00.

We are happy with them. Interesting to note that the first week's hire falls during the school holidays too.

Here is a complete list of campervan company prices in New Zealand. It also has useful tips and advice. http://www.newzealandatoz.com/motorhomecompanies.php
Another smaller campervan company that gets good feed back is www.adventurekiwi.co.nz
