3 weeks road trip in Europe

Hi all,

What is the best time to book a car rental for 3 weeks in Europe? What website or travel agency gives the best deals? Our trip is starting and ending in Frankfurt, Germany from the 2nd July to the 24th July.

And where are you driving to? What are your interests, desires, etc?

Generally car rentals are not like airfares where there are advance booking discounts and sales. Just book when you want to.

It is usually best to start by checking AutoEurope. They are a US-based broker who handles lots of different hire companies all over Europe. Normally they have the best rates - and when they don't they will often match.

if you will be using the car 17 or more days, you might lease a new one from Renault [I think other manufacturers do this too] - they cover all insurance and offer roadside service

"Amsterdam, Spain and France and as well Germany" in three weeks -- by car???

IMHO you need to look at a map before you make any big plans.

We always use Bob Bestor at Gemutlichkeit Travel to book our cars. Look him up at Gemut.com

I like sixt becuase I always get brand new Mercedes when I rent with them. They are at sixt.com. By the way, when you drive all around Europe you have two choices. The toll roads which are boring and have no scenery and the scenic route which takes forever to get from one place to another. You really ought to pare down your trip. I wouldn't drive from Germany to France to Spain and back. Fly or take a train. Not only is that a ton of driving, gas is sold by the Liter over there so if you think prices were high in America three months ago you will really feel the pain in Europe.
