Puerto Vallarta in the summer
Just returned from a fantastic week in Puerto Vallarta.
It was the first time I've been in the summer (having visited only November thru March months in the past). It was absolutely wonderful! Yes, a bit hotter and somewhat more humid but the noticeably smaller number of tourists more than made up for it. The town had a more "Mexican" feel to it with the lesser saturation of foreign tourists, along with many Mexican families seemingly on beach vacations added to the mix. Excellent atmosphere. The sunset is not until 8:30pm this time of year and was amazing each and every night.
So this is simply my little pitch to pass on this tip saying don't be afraid of PV because of the weather in June.

Nothing new, which actually was a big relief for me to see -lol. It had been 3 years since my last PV trip and I was nervous for what I would find in El Centro and the Old Town. Happily everything looked pretty much the same as ever.

HOLA: I also just returned from two weeks in PV. It was hot but had a breeze in the afternoon which made walking to the Malecon from Old Town enjoyable. The big change is the Molina de Agua being gutted and demolished to make room for Condo's. I asked a worker if they were going to save the beautiful Banyon tree on the grounds. He said Yes, I hope he is right. Also the Malecon extention bridge has been completely redone, new rails and brick. The Cardenas Park is still intact and may be saved for another year. I hope they are running out of money and can't afford to make it into a parking garage as planned. One day it rained and the river was all mud which ran out to the ocean a long long way spoiling some of the beach area by the Molina de Agua. Traffic this time of year is not bad and that's a good thing. We tried a newer restaurant that we missed last November- Bruce's Back Alley Bistro. Superb!!!! but pricey. This is the place for beef. It's on Madero in Old town a block up from the Ocean.

welcome home blondlady, and thanks for the post! i particularly appreciate the information about Molino de Agua. I know they said the hotel was "closed for renovations" but it looked pretty darn closed for good(!) when I walked by. it's a shame as it used to be a lovely property. hopefully that parking garage will never come to be, that also would be even sadder for the neighborhood.
