Puerto Vallarta for New Years?

Having never been to Mexico, what could I expect the weather to be like during the first week in January? Possibly hit or miss like Jamaica in Jan? I purchased a condo at fundrasing auction (one too many glasses of vino Actually its in Nuevo Vallarta.
Now trying to convince myself and family that it's worth the $600 pp airline cost in addition. Any thoughts please?

January weather in Puerto Vallarta is usually perfect. Clear, sunny, high 70's low 80's F would be typical. It would be highly unusual to find bad weather there this time of year. Not hit or miss in the least.

As a side note, Nuevo Vallarta is a development to the north of downtown PV. You could be anywhere from 20 mins. to 1 hour drive outside of El Centro (not good or bad just to know you aren't walking distance to most of what you'll hear/read about things to do in PV).

I'm highly biased in favor of Puerto Vallarta and would be on the plane so quick your head would spin
;-)

Thank you Suze. That is pretty much what I was hoping to hear. (at least weather wise) Now I just have to make up my mind on whether to go for it or not. Thanks again!!

You will love PV the first week of January--That is a great time to be there. I can't imagine you passing it up, but I am sure someone would want to take your place in the Condo if you do. Just be sure to plan on getting in to "El Centro" during your stay. Nuevo Vallarta is not that far away.

I challenge anyone to get from Nuevo Vallarta to Puerto Vallarta (downtown) in 20 min.
I'll give a shot of Raicilla to anyone who can.

Cabron- I completely agree. As you may recall I recently argued 'til I was blue in the face over on Trip Advisor that this was not true. I was told to take a chill pill, that is was only 9 miles (9 miles from where they never said) -LOL!

Just got back from P.V. Incredibly hotter than ever before. Almost unbearable no relief even at 12:00 midnight thank god for air conditioning. Must be weather all over because here in Philadelphia it is unseasonably warm. Want to mention to whoever is traveling that there is construction on the main road into town from the airport it is quite a traffic jam felt like I was home stuck in my normal everday traffic. However that said I must say that as usual another great trip inder our belts.
