It is miserable. The humidity is horrible and little or no airconditioning. It is also expensive.

I asked this question and don't know if anyone will be back to respond again but while I understand that the humidity may be miserable whats the deal with the expensive? Just overall at that time of year? Is ist considered prime time, I didn' think so. I don't quite understand. Lisa

Hi Lisa,
Puerto Vallarta will be warm and humid in May. I am going at the end of May and expect to have a great time as I have every other time I've gone. I don't find Puerto Vallarta expensive at all. Depending on your budget you'll find good bars and restaurants to fit your spending requirements. Have fun!

Lisa,
don't worry. i went in the peak time, xmas week last year and it was not even that expensive. may should not be an expensive month. i never been in may, but been in august, and that will be one time only, ive never experienced such humidity. Have a great time!!

Costs in Puerto Vallarta depend where you stay & what you do. I'm not sure what Barbara's experience was to make her so negative about it. There are still simple rooms under $20US/night! And plenty small to mid-size, Mexican family-run hotels with air conditioning & pools in El Centro & Old Town in the $45-65US range (Posada de Roger, Hotel Rio, Hotel Encino, Hotel Eloisa, Posada Rio Cuale to name a few).
