honeymoon spot?

Hello all,
We are honeymooning in CR in early October. Our plan is to spend the first night in San Jose, then to head over to the Pacific Coast to spend three nights RELAXING. We are looking for a nice hotel or resort on the coast. Preferably not too pricey but definately nice. We'd love somewhere with lots of character.
Any ideas?
Thanks, Ziggy and Flo

Congratulations! Ally mentioned in another post this evening Sueno del Mar in Tamarindo. It gets good reviews consistently and is right on the beach--about 5 hours by car from San Jose. Another option would be Manuel Antonio Parque Nacional--only 3 hours by car. Lots of hotel choices there! Check out Makanda, Si Como No, Tulemar--all higher up overlooking the beach.

While i have never been there yet, we are spending 4 nights of our honeymoon at Tulemar, and from what I've seen, read, & heard it seems like a wonderful honeymoon spot. The grenn season rates are around $140 a night for a bungalow.

You really don't have time to drive there and back with just 3 days, but if you could take a domestic flight, Punta Islita is said to be a great honeymoon location. . .

There is a new hotel that opened earlier this year called Casa Caletas (http://www.casacaletas.com/) different from Villas Caletas. Casa Caletas is North of MalPais - and their website says it is about a 3 hour drive PLUS a 1 hour ferry ride. It looks nice & charming. Prices are good - and they have a Jr Suite with a Jacuzzi which might be nice for a honeymoon! Not sure if anyone has visited it yet, though, from this board so you could get reviews.

Thanks for all the advice! Shillimac, we are actually in CR for 17 days...its just the first three we are planning on chilling out before we venture on to Monteverde, Arenal, and the Carribean Coast.
Punta Islita sounds great, but might be a little out of our price range.

Thanks again, Ziggy and Flo

Just thought of another place. Check out Hotel Sugar Beach near Flamingo. Although we haven't seen the rooms, we spent a little time on the property and the beach this summer. It was pretty relaxing looking! You can also do a search on this board. Someone not too long ago gave it quite a favorable review. The price is good!
