driving time question?

How long would it take to get from Manuel Antonio to Peace Lodge, we would be driving a rental, or hiring a driver?
Thank you

I am traveling with two children ages 8 and 10.
Any suggestions for stops to break up the trip?

You mean for a short stop? Any of the towns you pass through should have helados (ice cream). Atenas, Orotina, etc. But you wouldn't want to be out of sight of your car. How about Zoo Avenue in Alajuela? Although you won't have driven over an hour at this point--it would make a good stop.

Do stop at the Rio Tarcoles to look at the crocodiles. Same thing with the car, however. Someone needs to stay with it while you take turns looking. Are you alone with your children?

Thanks shillmac for your help. I will also be traveling with my husband.
If we decide to aty over in a hotel to break up the 4 hours, where would you suggest?
I'm thinking somewhere along the way about an hour from Peace Lodge which would be our destination, coming from MA.
Would our rental car be safe once we were on hotel property?
Thanks, again

Las Orquideas in Alajuela. It is very close to Zoo Ave should you have some time to go over there.

Vida Tropical (a small B & B)--also in Alajuela. The kids would love this place if George the monkey is still there (and I think he is!).

Also, try Villa Bonita--a new place (B & B)in Alajuela close to McDonald's!!

If you want a little different and rural experience, try El Cafetal, near Atenas. It is a working coffee farm--nice B&B. It's about half way. 2 hours from MA, 2 hours from Peace Lodge.

Rental car definitely safe at Las Orquid--guarded property.

Vida Tropical--when we stayed overnight, we didn't have a rental. I think you can pull inside the gated area in front of the hotel. We parked our rental out on the street one afternoon while we did laundry there. Overnight, you'd probably want it inside.

Villa Bonita--probably safe, not sure what the parking arrangements are. Will be there later this month.

El Cafetal--no problem at all.
