I think it depends on where you are coming from. I'm from Houston and used to that kind of weather so it was okay for me though it was really, really hot at the end of August. I'm not really sure about humidity but I pretty much wanted to be in some sort of water for most of the trip. On the upside, you can get great deals. If you come from some temperate climate I would think it might be unbearable.

It is terrible, the heat and humidity unbearable, can barely manage to walk a block without heat fatigue, It sucked.
Big tropical storm came thru when I was there, swear I would never go to Mexico in the Summer, knocked out all the electricity, no air conditioning, couldn't breath, couldn't sleep, it sucked. Sweated all day and all night, wanted to stay in my room but when the air conditioning got knocked out couldn't do it. All the other hotels in the same shape, big storm, sand all over the place, in the pool.
Yeah the heat and sun suck the chlorine out of the pool, got an eye and ear infection along with other guests. People sit at the bar all day and piss in the pool. It is so hot what else is there to do.
Hurricanes come in August Sept. and it sucked.

Thanks very much. I think we'll try next winter instead, and maybe try Puerto Vallarta now. Someone mentioned it might be a bit cooler there (though still hot) because of the mountains.

Puerto Vallarta is my absolute favorite Mexican destination, but it is very hot and humid there with possibility of some rain typical in August. It is 90 degrees F there today, and weather chart shows August as 90-95 average temp.
