Argentina Itinerary - Critique and Advice please
We are currently in Chile and will be travellin through the Lake District to Bariloche. The following itinerary was suggested to us by our Argentine Spanish teacher whilst we were in Peru.
We will have approx. 11 weeks to spend in Argentina of which, the last 4 will be spent in an apartment in Palermo. Unfortunately, I managed to lose the piece of paper I wrote the itinerary on! However, from memory the outline itinerary was as follows:
Bariloche
Mendoza
Cordoba
Salta
Jujuy
BA
From BA we would take a side trip to Iguazu and possibly Montivideo. Also we are considering visiting an Estancia outside of BA for a few days.
Any thoughts, comments and suggestions would be appreciated. In particular, is there anything obvious that we have missed out?
Finally, how would you recommend dividing up our time between the various locations.

Forum member Flintstones is very respectful of this forum's rules, as well as EXTREMELY shy (LOL!!), which is why she doesn´t say she is probably the best independent guide in our NW.
Did you find my e-mail address crellston?
Have a great time in our country.

Avrooster - Yes, I did find your email address, eventually!! I waded throught what must be one of the longest ever threads in the history of Fodors! It is now safely added to my address book and I shall email closer to the time we arrive in BA. We have now booked an apartment in palermao for teh month of December and are really looking forward to spending the last month of our round the world trip in your city.
Flintstones, thanks very much for your input- your comment re time is noted. I will certainly take you up on your offer of assistance in sorting out our time in the north west.
One additional question. Given the amount of time we have in Argentina and the fact that we are entering the country in Bariloche, is a trip to Puerto Morino to see the glaciers worth the time/effort?

At that time of the year, certainly you should go to the Perito Moreno glacier, even if you have to sacrifice another part of your planned itinerary.
I trust our country will be at least one of the highlights of your round the world trip.

I think Crellston ment PERITO MORENO instead of PUERTO MARINO...
I feel Perito MOreno and Puerto MAdryn are both worth to visit. Also the NW of Argentina.
AVrooster alway joke, but yes, I am a little shy.LOL!

Thanks to all for your input. Looks like we will include Perito Moreno and Peuerto Madryn and exclude exclude Cordoba.
So many places so little time!
So Bob, no Asia this year? we would love to meet up again in Argentina but unfortunately our RTW ticket has a dealine for the end of the year. However we are seriously considering buy a place in Mendoza or Salta so who knows, we may well be back in April and could well have that reunion yet!
I will of course post a trip report for Argentina and will email you a link to our blog for more detail.
