The stands are gone that used to be kitty corner across from Rizo's. They now sell fish across the street (but on the same side of the road as Rizo's) in a "building." All kinds of fish, and it appears to be very fresh. I believe they also sell fish at the North end of the Malecon where you can also sit and eat some fish. Plaza Mar is a great location. You will have a very nice time. I hope they haven't started work on destroying the park next door though. I heard construction (destruction!) was to start the latter part of December. Happy holidays to you too.

All the shrimp in sold Vallarta comes here as frozen, there's no fresh, except for some 'estuary' shrimp.
The freshest fish can be bought at the stand on the beach by the Rosita Hotel, it comes right off the boats.

Would you believe a parking lot ?
Our major seems intent on destroying the charm of our town and, undoubtedly lining his pocket in the process. If this upsets you please send an e-mail to

RE: the park, to add insult to injury I hear they are not going to let the venders back around the edges of the park. It is truly a shame. Thanks for the email address, I will use it to complain. I think it is a travesty what they have done to Hildago park and now Cardenas. Hildalgo park looks like something right out of Los Angeles, cold barren cement. The fish place I was talking about at the north end of the Malecon is just about across from Hotel Rosita as you mentioned.

In passing Plaza Hidalgo (re-named from Parque Hidalgo) the most people I've seen in it, and not just passing through, is 5.
The parking below is no more than 25% full.
A travesty, those beautiful 40 year old shade trees are now firewood. !
