What is close to Sao Paulo?

How far is the closest beach? The Amazon? The Iguacu Fall?

What are some more adventurous things to do near Sao Paulo?

Is the rainforest area close????

Need a bit of a breakdown of the area.. Just beginning to research.

Zammy,
Brazil is very very big. São Paulo is in the southeast. Amazon is in the north and Iguazu in the South.
There are some beaches not very far from São Paulo, but if you go on weekends there is a heavy traffic.
São Paulo is a city similar to New York. Great restaurants, shopping, shows.
I suggest you to give a look in Brazil map to have an idea how big it is and where the things you are interested in are located.

I second, Brazil is larger than the continental US.
I also second, first thing comes first, and for me it is looking at the map before even considering where to go.

Let's put this into numbers..
Rio de Janeiro is 40 minutes by plane. But, indeed, you will find great beaches on the Sao Paulo coast as well.
But I gotta say the best beaches are either near Rio de Janeiro (the capital) - Angra dos Reis or Arraial do Cabo (1-2hours away by car)

And on the Northeast part of Brazil...from Sao Paulo, you will be 3-4-5 hours away by Salvador, Natal, Recife, Maceio, Fortaleza...

And let's not forget the Iguazu Falls, which is 1 1/2 hours by plane...towards the south..And if you decide to this, it's a great idea flying to Buenos Aires, which is app 1-1 1/2 from Foz (better double check this)

You have a "brazilian" (my friends always use this to refer to gazillion) of options...
