WEATHER?
WE WERE PLANNING ON TRYING A TRIP TO MACHU PICCHU (AND CUSCO) AT THE END OF JANUARY; AS A MATTER OF FACT, I WAS ALREADY PSYCHED UP FOR IT, BUT MY HUSBAND JUST READ THAT JANUARY IS IN THE MIDDLE OF THE RAINY SEASON. I WAS WONDERING IF ANYONE HAD EXPERIENCE WITH TRAVELING THERE AT THAT TIME AND HOW MUCH OF A PROBLEM, IF ANY, THAT WOULD PRESENT. WE'RE ALSO PLANNING ON GOING TO THE GALAPAGOS AFTER PERU, BUT I DON'T THINK THE RAIN IS AS MUCH OF A CONCERN THERE. ANYONE HAVE ANY COMMENTS ABOUT THIS?
THANKS A LOT, KAREN

I was there three years ago at the end of January. It was pretty rainy, although the day I visited Machu Picchu it was sunny and clear. (People told me that was unusual.) I think you have to be prepared for rain that time of year.

Type in a nearby city or airport.
In addition to the current and 5 day forecasts, you may scroll down to historical/archives and get the weather for any date going back many years.

Chiming in on only the Galapagos part. There is no bad time there. Here is a link for Galapagos weather.
The most sun and most rain oddly occur together.
