Uruguay?
Heading to Buenos Aires for about a week and a half in mid-January. We're thinking about heading to Uruguay for the last four days or so. We were thinking Punta del Este and then Montevideo.
Any insight on either of these places (or alternatives)?
Is it difficult to travel from Buenos Aires to Punta del Este? and from Punta del Este to Montevideo?
Anything else we should know?
Thanks in advance.

Also looking for recommendations for places to stay. Looking for something kind of trendy and on the boutique end of things - have been looking at BoBo and Home in Buenos Aires.
No clue where to stay in Punta del Este.
Thanks.

Yes, travelbug 18, I have been there.
However, as is the case with so many things, it's a matter of taste.
"Punta", as we call it, is beautiful, but I wouldn't be caught dead there in January, mainly because I don't like crowds. But maybe you do, so....
As to where to stay, I suggest you browse http://tinyurl.com/2nca87
and you'll most likely find the answer to your question. If not, become a member of that forum and pop the question there, or PM a poster who calls himself Punta Lugano, who is very helpful and lives there most of the year.
It may even be too late to get reservations for January at the best places in Punta.
Have a great time in our country and with our cousins across the River Plate.

My friend Punta Lugano is not in the country presently but do try posting on TA if you don't get a good answer here..
I have heard that things book up months ahead in Punta del Este so start working on it asap.
Of the two, I would chose Home but they are both very nice hotels.
