transportation

We recently realized that neither one of us can drive manual transmission, thus making it impossible to rent a 4 wheel drive.

What are our options, we were thinking either the two charter bus companies, I don't have their websites, or some type of shuttle service that will accommodate our time schedule.

Thank you,
Anne

Caron I believe that there are some automatic 4x4's available in the San Jose area(read it someplace?).Do a little more research before you give up.....good luck.

4WD is not necessary in most places if you just take it easy. The paved roads are rough, some potholes, but nothing too radical. Good luck, you'll have fun anyway...

The first two years that my husband and I traveled to CR we rented automatic 4X4's.

As was mentioned, you may not need the 4X4. It depends on what time of year and where you are going. Sometimes just having a car that is higher off the ground will be good enough.

Learn to drive a manual before you go.

They are far superior to automatics.

Thannk you for the responses.
We are going in July, this is why we felt we needed a 4 wheel drive. Our itinerary is Monteverde and Arenal.

Do you still feel that we can do this in a regular car? And do you recall what rental car company offered automatic transmission?

Thanks

Toyota has a list of several 4x4's that you can rent in Costa Rica in either automatic or manual.
Just type in a search for,
Toyota Rent a Car Costa Rica.
