Tours & Activities in Costa Rica

Our family (kids age 5 to 9) are visiting Peace Lodge, Arenal and MA for a couple of weeks. We are considering the Cano Negro Boat Tour, the Proyecto Asis experience, the Canopy Safari Tour and the MA National Park Tour. Does anyone have any feedback from first hand experience wit these tours? Do you have any other suggestions for our young family? What do you think abou the horseback riding and ATV tours?
Thanks

I hope you give a trip report when you get back because we're doing the exact same trip in June (Peace Lodge, Arenal, MA).

Other fun things in the Arenal area are visiting the natural hot springs - either Tabacon or Eco Termales, hiking the waterfall and swimming at the base, and hiking the Hanging Bridges. You can also do a volcano hike. Cano Negro is one of our favorite things, but you'll have to judge if your 5-year old is up for the long drive and time on the boat with no bathroom, etc. At the Peace Lodge, hike the waterfalls, do the nocturnal frog tour, and hand feed the hummingbirds. There's also an aviary and butterfly hatchery. If you have time, you could visit nearby Poas volcano. Sometimes it gets fogged in so go early. Definitely hire a guide for your MA park tour; we saw a lot of wildlife there - it's pretty tame though. Mangrove tours are popular too, as is horseback riding with Finca Valmy.

We did Cano Negro Boat Tour. Pretty much straight-forward, we enjoyed it though. We used Desafio.

The above link & pictures pretty much shown what we've experienced. We fed Iguanas on the way too.

I agree with VG. It is all day tour & might be a little too long trip for your 5-year old. Oh, and sometimes guide will ask you to bring passport for Cano Negro Tour since it is located along the Nicaraguan border, said sometimes they stop the Costa Rican Tours.
