The coffee plantations in the central valley, Arenal Volcano and the hot springs, the scarlet macaws in the Osa Penisula area, the monkeys in Manuel Antonio, the black sand beaches in Povones, the waterfalls near Dominical, the gorgeous sunsets on the Pacific coast and the dolphins in Drake Bay.

Any of the Eco tours are great. The canopy tours are not only interesting and beautiful, but a thrill as well. Another thrill is to do a whitewater rapid trip, there are various skill levels available. Also try a river tour, it's like The Discovery channel, only you are really there. The Tabaccon hot springs spa is worth a day, then you can have dinner there and see the Arenal volcano while you dine. Have fun.

We just returned from two weeks in CR (Osa, Manuel Antonio, Arenal, and Central Valley). Osa was by far the highlight. Stayed at Bosque del Cabo in Osa and Manuel Antonio was a real letdown after that. Osa had all four variety of Monkeys, the Scarlet Macaws, the poison dart frogs, secluded pristine beaches. Manuel Antonio (we stayed at Tulemar Bungalows - very nice) definitely had the creature comfort advantage if that's what you are looking for though. Good variety of restaurants and some night life too. Arenal we got lucky and saw the volcano and lava and the Hot Springs were fun. Xandari in the Coffee plantations was just beautiful and very relaxing. If it were just one thing I'd do Osa over the other three.
