surfing rivermouths croc problems?

Call me paranoid, but has anyone heard of there being any crocodile problems at the rivermouth surfing areas? How about the Tamarindo estuary? Thanks!

They eat only fish and an occasional infant.

Don't think they are likely to venture out of their calm estuary waters into the surging ocean waves. I have surfed Playa Grande just above the estuary across from Tamarindo and never saw one. I know they are there, but very far back; I believe they like the fresh water, not the ocean. You can take an estuary tour to see them and other wildlife. Mikemo, they probably find surfers a bit too tough and chewy for their tastes....

Not a problem with crocs, but in the rainy season it could be a problem with sharks.
I know of one accident at Tamarindo and one at Cabo Matapalo on the Osa. Sharks simply cannot see in the murky waters near river mouths so may bite by accident thinking your movements are fish. In general, it's not a great idea to surf at river mouths when there are so many other surf spots to choose from.
