Snorkeling Cano: Good, Bad or Indifferent?

I was reviewing older posts to get a better sense of how to spend the last four days in CR. I love to snorkel, but have only done so in Hawaii. How would you rate the snorkeling at Cano Island - I've read good, bad, and indifferent reviews, and wondering if I should plan on spending time doing other things instead.

Thanks!

We love to snorkle but have not done so on our 2 visits to CR. Had planned to on last trip, on the carib side, with daughter desperate to try it for first time. Weather stirred things up too much to see anything so we didn't do it. And everyone in CR really said snorkling there is a bust if you are a real avid snorkler, its really just another tourist option for water activity, not a CR main feature.

I'd skip the expense of Cano unless you really have $ to burn.

I wasn't impressed with the snorkeling on Cano island. Highlight was a huge sea turtle, also some reef sharks. Other than that, we didn't see much.

It was a fun trip though, had a nice lunch on the beach, and an ok walk around the island.

However, if I was back in the area, I think I'd just do another jungle hike instead.

We've only done it in Manuel Antonio, but it was the worst snorkeling we've ever done - too much sediment in the water.

OK, this does NOT sound promising. Since they have snorkel gear available at shore, I think I'll spare the $150 and the 2/3 day trip if we want to try snorkeling!

Thanks so much.
