Advice needed: Snorkel - Manuel Antonio

I will soon be leaving for Costa Rica and need advice on whether to bring snorkel equipment. We will be spending a couple of days at Manuel Antonio and I read that it is possible to snorkel there. Obviously this is the tail end of rainy season. Is it worth bringing? Do any of you have any first hand experience around this time of the year at Manuel Antonio?

Thanks,

Jonathan

We did it, and it was terrible. We had so much sediment in the water that we couldn't see much of anything. We were there in rainy season in July. Personally I wouldn't bother. If you go, I hope you have better luck.

I wouldn't bother wasting the room in your luggage.

The "best" snorkeling is out on the left side of Biesanz Beach. There is usually a fellow there who lays out some well worn snorkeling gear on the sand for rent. Just use that....

Not a snorkeling destination.

Hey Jonathan - I think you should bring the snorkel, mask and swim fins. Just kidding! Although the rain is suppose to be easing up, I don't know if they are quite to the tail end. We've been communicating with fishing boat operators (we're arriving 11/26) and they are advising us to come prepared to get wet.

The spot bella is referring to is where we went. For the most part CR just isn't known for great snorkeling. We snorkel on every vacation but give it a pass in CR.
