Searching for new destination idea's

We have been to Playa del Carmen, Tulum and Cancun, and want suggestions for a different destination on this same coastline. Great beaches minus kids is a plus. Anyone have condo suggestions that would allow us to cook our own meals, has a great view, walking distance to nearby towns and culture? Our budget is mid-range-not pricey, but something nice and quiet.

Too bad you do not wish to try the other coasts. If you did I would urge you to try www.zihuatanejo

Mèrida could be a good choice, there are a few beaches very close from the city.

Akumal, or possibly a villa on Tankah or Soliman Bay (there is also one small hotel in Soliman Bay), but you would need a car for the last two destinations.

What about Cozumel? Short ferry ride from Play Del Carmen. We stayed at the Coral Princess. They have one bedroom apartments with full kitchens, dining area and balcony. Short taxi cab ride to town - not even 5 minutes.

Sounds like Akumal might be your best bet - great beach, world class snorkeling, quiet, safe, a handful of nice places to eat, lots of condos for rent. Not too much in the way of culture however. Just FYI: Akumal Beach is the best for swimming - Half Moon Bay, which is just down the road is great for snorkelling but is very rocky. Have you been to locogringo.com?

I would head to Roatan, there isn't much difference between Tulum and Akumal. At least Honduras would be a change
