Sayulita

Planning a trip to PV and friends who were there last year said to make sure to get to Sayulita. Have you been? Is it worth a day trip? What's the best way to get there?

Gracias for any info.

I've not been but know the area. I'm sure it would be a worthwhile day trip. You can get there by bus (or rental car or hired taxi). It's about an hour or so north.

You might want to post your question over on Lonely Planet.com's Thorn Tree forum. There are frequently discussions there that mention Sayulita.

Thanks glover, I've never posted there, but there's always a first time, right?

I normally like Lonely Planet's Thorn Tree forum but rumor has it they're having technical difficulties at the moment due to a recent 'upgrade' to the website.

I'd recommend the Pueto Vallarta forum over at Trip Advisor.

You could read & research both places even without registering to post.

Just got back from PV this past saturday. wow it was great. I wanted to go to sayulita for the surfing. We ended up taking taxi from Nuevo vallarta(playa de sol grand) 19USD. Sayulita is just as most people describe it as a small surf town/ or what PV was 40 years ago. It's a very small town compared to PV but it's very charming. The surfing was great especially foe our first time. Good instructer Fernando at el tigre surf school right on the beach. small boutiques for souvenirs I liked Sinnien surf shop and Surfing sayulita t-shirt shop. There is also a bus back from sayulita to PV I think, cuz we took the bus back to Buceria and walked back on the beach to our hotel! 25 minutes walk. let me know if you have any other specific questions but it was great day trip for surfing and we also saw panga boats taking fisherman and snorkeling is available as well.. adios

tolvo,
Thanks for the information, but one question--do you think it's worth it even if we're not surfers?
