Sansa airlines

We are traveling to costa rica for the first time via us airways. The flight doesn't get in until 2:20, and we were going to try to make the 3:30 to Golfito. After purchasing the tickets to CR, I've learned what a poor on--time arrival record us airways has into CR, so I doubt we will make the flight. I've read a few messages about people trying to make a mad dash to the last flights sansa and nature offer. Does anyone know why they don't have later flights?

I would assume a couple reasons, but foremost the early sunset (year-round at approx 5:30). A 3:30 flight would put them back into SJO just as the sun was going down, any later they'd be in the dark. Not to mention if it's going to pour, it seems to come later in the afternoon. If you're going to go for it, travel with everything in your carry-on, that will save you time and pray they're on time.

That makes sense--Since these planes only carry a few passengers, would they wait for late international flights?

I highly doubt it. Although Sansa is right next door, there doesn't seem to be a way that they're really connected to what's going on at the main terminal. The turn around is remarkedly quick, sometimes you're practically passing people exiting the plane as they're telling you to get on.

If we try to make the 3:30 and miss it, will they automatically put us on the next flight in the morning? I read that these flight can sell out in advance. This is frustrating--would rather be at Bosque del cabo than the San Jose Hampton.

I have essentially the same problem. I am concerned not only about making the flight but have also read several posts about afternoon flights being cancelled due to weather. If the flights are often full, they won't be able to put us on the next flight in the morning. I think we are going to use a private driver. Takes more time, but less stress for me.

Have you checked the availability of flights? I wouldn't wait too long to book. When I went to book for the end of January, Sensa was booked. We ended up booking on the other airlines and even then I was glad to get seats on my second choice of flights.

Even if your flight lands on time, it's not like you can just go straight to Sansa. It often takes an hour or more to get through immigration and customs. This is why people usually spend the first night in San Jose. I'd make hotel reservations near the airport and airline reservations for an early flight to Golfito for the next day.

Thanks for the tips. I wonder how the air pass works "fly where you want when you want" if these flights sell out because they say no reservations necessary when you buy the pass. I read the hampton inn is close to the airport with a regular shuttle. Any more recommendations, or maybe I'll post a new message.
