Thank you for your wonderful report. I enjoyed reading it. Do you know how much more we pay for flights since we are not from Argentina? And do you still believe that a travel agent can get a better price on flights then we who use the airline websites?

Barbara, the answer to your "cost of flights" question is: see for yourself.
Go to:
http://www.lan.com/country_selector.html
and say you are from the US (?), then say you are from Argentina and compare the costs.
Then write to Isabel, a travel agent who is often recommended here (for instance, search for a thread titled: "Do not cry for me, Argentina"
and ask her what can she do for you?
This is her e-mail: [email protected]

Barbara: somehow or other, that was the case two years ago, when I wrote the report you read.
Now, that is no longer so. You COULD try to book as a local resident through the website and maybe get the lower price, but, until you are sitting on the plane, you would not be sure of having gotten away with it. In fact, they might catch you on the way back. LOL!!!
I DO NOT suggest trying it.
Are you also in touch with Angie?

Hello; Barbara:
I suggest not to miss:
Purmamarca - SAlinas Grandes and Tilcara, you need at least two days for this. In the southern area of Salta, CAFAYATE, you need also two days, you need time to visit the wineries, goat cheese factory, taste the wine icecream. Your time will be a little tight but you can see the best in foru days.
Warm regards,
Angie

Barbara: as was the case with another question you asked above, it will be up to you to decide whether or not "contacting her is to my (your) benefit".
I suggest you research Angie both here and on http://tinyurl.com/nw9f4
After you have done so, I believe you will contact her.
She posts as Flintstones here and as Giena elsewhere.
You can reach her at the e-mail Flintstones indicates above.

Dear Flintstones/Giena/Angie:
May I have some fun?
First, I guess you mean "Fodorite's", not "Fororite's".
Second, I'm not sure what a GTG is, but I imagine it could be Internet speech for get-together.
Assuming I'm right about both things, the answer is yes, I have attended several events of that kind.
I don't have a final answer to your question about "How much in advance should be organised??"
I would post the proposal and see what the reaction is, about dates, venue, number of people, etc.
The TA poster who calls himself "Gaucho Retobado" is a specialist in that kind of thing. LOL!!!
