Riviera Maya

Has anyone been to wither Paraiso Maya or Paraiso Del Mar (or both?) We are going to celebrate our 4th anniversary (28 & 24 yrs old) and would love advice on the hotels and the area. We dont love to sit on the beach all day long, we like adventures (the ruins and xcaret park) and also like the idea of an all inclusive resort. Please help!

We stayed at the IBerostar Paraiso Del Mar last Christmas and loved it. The Maya is part of the same Iberostar complex. There are four hotels there...the Beach and Del Mar are sister resorts and share all facilities. The Maya and Lindo are sister resorts and share all facilities. Guests of the Del Mar and Beach will not be served foo on the Lindo/Maya side, but guests of the Lindo/Maya can eat and drink wherever.
We did not find it a problem at all as the Del Mar is pretty spectacular itself. The beach is shared by all four hotels in the IB complex.
There are activities going on all day and a disco for after the shows at night. Fro really great info on these resorts, go to:

Thanks! Did you travel off the grounds? If so, where? We love adventures and want to do the Mayan Ruins, xcaret park and scuba, etc. Any experience with these?

I was a lazy slug on this vacation and didn't leave the resort at all.
The link I posted above will take you to a site where people have lots to say about visiting the ruins and adventure tours. There is a compnay called Edventures that lets you design your own day. They take you wherever you want to go and serve as your guides.

I got this from the site I referred to before:

"We were at the Del Mar the last week of October and used Edventures tours for a private and personalized tour and they were great!!! You just contact Bonnie via email ([email protected]) and tell her which day you want to go and what you want to see and do and she makes all the arrangements and even picks you up outside of your resort in a car or van. She knows the area very well and knows the best places to snorkle, zip line (the kids will LOVE it! ) and other activities. They are much less expensive than scheduling a tour through the resort and you don't have to deal with riding on a large tour bus with 35 other people. "
