Stayed at the Bahia Principle resort (60 miles South of Cancun) last November. Not quite as crowded as Cancun area. If you are looking for a place just to relax and kick back you will have a great time. Have to travel by bus to get anywhere close to a town and it takes a while to get there. Talked to some people who took bus to Cancun and it took them 3 hours to get there. Traffic very slow. We are trying Ixtapa this year. Have a great time.

Just got back from PDC, and we stayed at the Riu Playacar, which is a sister property of Riu Yucatan. RY is a bigger property, although it is very nice. Their landscaping and grounds were gorgeous! They have a full salon and massage service at RY, which we walked over and took advantage of! Most of the people there this time of year are European, but that made it even more fun. PDC is MUCH less crowded and nicer than Cancun. There is a cute little shopping area just across from Riu Playacar, and PDC is only a $5 cab ride away if you need more to see. We went snorkeling and really enjoyed it.

Christie - could you tell me where you went snorkeling? Did you take an excursion or just go on your own? My family and I will be staying at the Riu Playacar at the end of Dec. Were there organized activities at the resort or do you need to go to the Riu Yuc for that? I know it's a bigger property. Other than that - does is compare to the Riu Playacar? Thanks in advance...Liz
