Hello,

well, I have not staed in the Praia Ipanema Hotel yet, but here's the webpage for you to have a look:
http://www.praiaipanema.com

From Rio International Airport to Ipanema you can take the "REAL" bus which is more cheap than a taxi-ride to Ipanema!
For further informations on this bus and other advices please look around at my Rio de Janeiro page:
http://www.virtualtourist.com/m/2c9dc/16f3ed/

Greetings
carioquinha
You certainly should try at least one churrascaria
(-Brazilain "barbecue" - delicious meats, as well as other types of food in addition.)
Porcao is the most well-known, but also probably the priciest. About 40 Real. Excellent though.
I'd recommend Carretao, on General Osorio Square in Ipanema. It's less than half the cost - and also great.
By the way - the dollar is currently very strong, so even Porcao is not as
outrageosly priced as a good churrascaria here in the US.

All the above posters are correct, I will also add Garota de Ipanema as a very good choice and very inexpensive also across the street is Vinicius and inexpensive choice. More on the pricey side would be Mio's on Farme Moeda and excellent Italian restaurant and Satyricon on Barao da Torre the best Italian style seafood restaurant but very pricey. Porcao also has a new location in Flamengo called Porcao Rio with the best view of the bay and Sugar Loaf, about 15 minutes from Ipanema. Also another Chuascaria is Marius in Leme. There are also many inexpensive places in Leblon for example Jobi's, very popular with the locals. You can take the bus but a taxi is about $18 and is much quicker and direct and a long trip. Taxi stands are right outside customs.
